About CANAA-RACCA

The Community Action Network Against Abuse (CANAA) is a network of service providers and people from the communities of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry and Akwesasne who work together to end abuse. We meet regularly to discuss and plan community initiatives against abuse.

Our purpose is to optimize members’ individual and collective capacity to take action against abuse.

Our vision A well-connected network of members actively and efficiently working together to address abuse in our community.

Our mission Take action against abuse through networking and community education.

Our values: Respect, Trust, Honesty, Integrity, and Diversity.

The Network has been around since 1987 under a different name. As the former Coordinating Committee to End Family Violence (CCEFV), it accomplished a number of goals including:

  • Shine the Light (2016)
  • Various Workshops and Training Sessions
  • Healthy Relationships Resources
  • Safety Plans
  • Various public information campaigns on family violence.

Boost Membership Growth & Network Connection

  • Expand our membership base to include survivors, supporters, and sector professionals from all across SDG&A.
  • Optimize network meetings to include dynamic discussion, brainstorming and information sharing.
  • Create structured opportunities for member connection and collaboration.

Optimize Training and Service Delivery

  • Offer diverse workshops to members and the broader community.
  • Identify and collectively address duplication of services, as well as service gaps.

Enhance Community Awareness

  • Increase community awareness regarding threats of abuse, prevention, and services available.
